This is the first time we have stepped away from the vineyard we work with in the Uco Valley. With this wine we are working with the vineyard of a good friend of ours, Andrej at Alpamanta Estate in Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza’s north. Planted in the early two thousands on virgin land, the vineyard has been farmed organically and bio-dynamically since it’s inception. It’s warmer here and the soil is more of sand and clay, it’s a happy place for a grapevine. The vineyard teams with life, cows, sheep, chickens, dogs, bees, flies & crickets. The manure from these guys yields richer soils and wines with more depth.
We’ve always loved the wines of Wendowree, the Shiraz/Malbec in particular. In this wine we pay homage to Wendowree, with an Argentine counterpart, this time with Malbec the predominant varietal. Malbec makes up 60% and Syrah is 30%.
