There are so many ways to describe classic Pinot Noir that can give a person a brief pause… earth, compost, mushroom… we’ve heard worse. And yet, how do you adequately grasp in words the allure of this substantive yet seductive grape? It is corporeal with an overlay of the ethereal. Think hot day, cotton shirt, hoisting the mainsail with just a hint of cologne on the collar remaining from the morning. 2019 was a warm year and Gower wears the season on its sleeve – black tea and freshly pestled cumin alongside bold, vibrant fruit on the back palate. Silky tannins that build and build cut by a refreshing acidic line.
