First Creek Wines is a family owned and operated winery based in the Hunter Valley, Australia's oldest wine producing region. The talented family of winemakers comprises of Liz, Shaun and Greg Silkman whose emphasis on careful fruit selection and rigorous attention to detail produce a range of wines that appeal to both critics and consumers alike.
The first major planting in the Hunter Valley came in 1825 when James Busby, widely considered the father of Australian wine, purchased vineyard land. James Busby's collection is the likely origin of Hunter Valley Shriaz and today the Hunter Valley is home to some of the oldest own rooted Shiraz vines int he world, with some vineyards boasting vines that are in excess of 120 years of age.
Made in the classic Hunter Valley style. Medium bodied showing great character and length of flavour. Use of some new oak and bottling early helps to maintain the intense fruit flavours of red berries and spice.
