This is an exceptional pinot, built in the mould of a top Burgundy with 25% new oak, beautifully extracted tannins of lithe detail, and a quotient of whole-cluster rasp that speaks exactitude! All the components converge to deliver a complex potpourri of clove, cardamon, cinnamon, five-spice, mulch, campfire and red fruits a go go. This deserves to be placed among the country's very best. Savoury and thoroughly compelling.

Rich cherry, blackberry and faintly chocolaty aromas, super-ripe and teetering on overripe. Some bunchy complexities. The palate is sweetly-fruited and concentrated but also elegantly-weighted, the tannins fine and in harmony. A very fine, detailed pinot of lovely texture and balance. Drink 2020 to 2032
