Domaine A Pinot Noir is a substantial style with fine tannic structure and great longevity. The small 2ha plot of low yielding Pinot Noir vines is situated on the highest part of the vineyard slope at Domaine A. Low yields of 4.5 tonnes per ha and small, concentrated berries mean it takes two vines to make a single bottle of fine Domaine A Pinot Noir. Winemaking includes small batch open fermentation, gentle hand plunging and maturation in seasoned French oak barriques for approximately 18 months to ensure true varietal expression. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
“Very astute work from Curly on the 2014 and the 2015 seems to have followed on closely. This follows suit in style, broad shouldered, stewed fruit dominant, sooty oak characters, leather and dried fruit n nut between palate and bouquet. Rolls around the palate more like bolder varieties, it’s really inky, chewy and laced with dark chocolate drinking powder tannin and loads of woody, old spice cupboard character. This one asks you to engage and strap in. As full tilt as pinot noir can get and should get, really.”
