2019 M. Sorrel Hermitage Rouge Le Greal, Northern Rhone

A rare and prestigious wine, the Hermitage, which was served at the Tsar's court, was once traded at the prices of Lafite and Romanée. Marc Sorrel, winemaker since 1984, cultivates his old vines wisely in the noblest mas of the hillside. Méal is the heart of the cru and produces, on a ground of large pebbles, the most velvety and fragrant wine of the appellation. A stone's throw from Méal, the Rocoules produce a confidential, powerful and racy white, with an inescapable finesse. The operation has existed since 1928, when the Estate was created by Marc's grandfather, Félix, a notary in Tain-l'Hermitage. Geographical location: Northern Côtes-du-Rhône, left bank of the Rhône at the 45th parallel.
