The Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. The vintage provided good conditions for grape growing, with a dry and reasonably warm season. Due to a cold snap in spring the crops were low yielding resulting in high quality fruit with intense flavours and complexity. Small batches and an array of winemaking techniques, including a portion of whole bunch fermentation, accentuate the subtle nuances of florals and spice found throughout the vineyard, creating a wine with individuality.
50% hand-picked, 50% machine-harvested (traditional), part whole berry, part crushed, 2 weeks on skins with cultured yeast, 14 months in French barriques (30% new). The Grampians at its most seductive. Medium-bodied, with supple dark fruits, licorice, spice and soft tannins.
