An exceptional vintage for this wine, with such intense aromas of lime and sweet flowers, as well as hints of white nectarine and wet stone in the background. The palate has density and sleekly refined shape that drives so long. Lime juice throughout, and some almost pithy density builds into the finish, supported by driving acidity. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2026 and a number of years after that. Screw cap.

Very light-yellow colour with a trace of green in the tint. The aroma is ethereal and perfumed, summoning lime leaf and lemon zest, the palate adding a touch of baked lemon pudding, while the finish is long and full and underlined by a trace of grip which adds structure. Grosset Polish Hill is always a supremely elegant, powerful wine with a proven track record of graceful ageing in the cellar, and a release such as this is the foundation upon which that reputation is built. This is concentrated, structured and long, with jasmine tea, saffron, lemon pith, aniseed, fennel flower, green apple skins and white pepper - all of which colour in the background for the lime flesh and Clare volume of flavour. There’s an initial shyness on the nose, not surprising given the history of Grosset Polish Hill; and more restrained than some recent releases. This initial restraint gives way to a slowly evolving, yet increasingly intense, pure lime perfume. The palate is tight yet features amazingly intense lime pith and lime juice flavours while the impressive weight and steely backbone are characteristic of the style. It finishes crisp, clean and mouth-puckering: the length is staggering.
