Picked by both hand and machine. Whole berries were fermented in large open-top concrete fermenters with natural yeasts. Mlf and 14 months' maturation in French barriques (35% new). A range of clones lend character to the delicious complexity in this wine. You have to wonder about their powerful role. Deep, dense purple. A beautifully elegant expression of concentrated spice, pepper and black-hearted shiraz. Revels in lifted aromatics of violet and woodsy spice, anise and chocolate, with a surge of fine tannins and vanillan oak through to the finish.

The Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. The vintage provided good conditions for grape growing, with a dry and reasonably warm season. Due to a cold snap in spring the crops were low yielding resulting in high quality fruit with intense flavours and complexity. Small batches and an array of winemaking techniques, including a portion of whole bunch fermentation, accentuate the subtle nuances of florals and spice found throughout the vineyard, creating a wine with individuality.
