2015 Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes, Deep red with violet hues. The nose is crushed violets with some sweet spice. The nose was obviously a preview for the palate. Opulent and silky, red and mellow black fruits. As it opens, the fruit really comes to life, showing strawberry and raspberry hits, which ebb to dark cherry and spice. The tannin structure is simply beautiful, delicate and fine-grained. The finish goes on and on. I never wanted it to end.
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ..."silky smooth and harmonious...surely the best he has ever made"
92-94 points Vinous ..."Wonderfully silky, lively wine with little easy sweetness but an intriguing saline character...
91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound ..." rich, intense and tension-filled middle weight plus flavors possess equally good complexity on the balanced, concentrated and lingering finish"
All the reviewers agree that this is a Volnay built to last, and will only get better. Not much of it left.
