There has been an important change in the operations of this storied domaine as Noël Ramonet has withdrawn from the domaine, ostensibly because of succession planning. The vineyards remain with the domaine however Noël is still farming his portion of them and then selling the fruit to Jean-Claude.
As a practical matter not much has changed as Jean-Claude was essentially in charge for several years now. This has also resulted in a change of names as the domaine is now called Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet.
2017 Vintage Reviews
Offering up aromas of peonies, plums, red berries and blood orange, the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot (Rouge) is medium-bodied, pure and supple, with an uncommonly delicate profile for this site. It will drink well in the near and medium term.
