Sable means sand, and this is based on two sandy parcels of vines planted in 1926, so truly a Vieilles Vignes cuvée. Bouland’s 1.5 hectares are subdivided into two different plots, both on Corcellete’s classic sandy soils, but one with some rocky granite pebbles as well. The winemaking, however, remains the same, so what you have here is the depth, intensity and personality coaxed from some of Morgon’s oldest vines. This is simply stunning, fleshy yet driven, with ripe, oozing fruit—blood plum and blackcurrants and blood.
