Another beautiful wine after a long line of other wonderful Duke's rieslings. A touch more fruit intensity. Crisp, dry, clean, lime. Cellar for 20 years.
Duke and Hilde Ranson ended their long search for the perfect property to establish their vineyard as their “retirement”. The first vine was planted on Duke’s 60th birthday, on the 5th August, 1999. They decided to plant beautiful Riesling, beloved Cabernet Sauvignon (by Duke) and a spicy Shiraz. They have planted 25 acres of vines on their 160+ acre farm and are running a Suffolk sheep stud on the remaining acreage.
The first vintage in 2001 resulted in a gold medal, the first of many awards including the Best in Show Trophy at the Sydney Royal Wine Show 2006. Since 2013 they have been in Hallidays top 100.
Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, minimal SO2. 1yo riesling doesn’t come more powerful or intense than this brilliant Porongurup example, with glorious lime/lemon fruit and a whipcord of acidity giving the backbone for a long, oh so long, life.

Pale yellow colour centre to rim. Bath salts, minerals galore, lemon rind and finger limes. Ginger and lemons lead a spicy and confident palate – coiled and youthful. Fruit and acidity reach every corner of your mouth – piercing and bright. This is a special wine made with sensational fruit. Respect.”
