Dry. Organic. Screwcap. Few German estates produce an entry Riesling of this depth and structure. It is cropped at an incredibly low 35hl/ha in order to mitigate its younger-vine origins and is made entirely from hand-harvested, Estate-grown Riesling. The source vineyards are all from the sandstone slopes of the Haardt hills, Mussbach, Gimmeldingen and Haardt itself. Martin Franzen's 2017 wines are deep, long and flowing and crystalline in the extreme. This is true to form. It's a super vibrant, perfumed and fleshy wine with peach and ripe apple fruit and a vibrant racy close. With such intensity and clarity, this is another bargain that will only get better with a few years in the cellar (although wonderful now!)
"I love the fresh and delicate white peaches. Then comes almost absurd elegance on the palate for this category. The finish has rare lightness for this warm region. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap."
