Light crimson; the bouquet is fragrant and floral with red fruit, spice and forest notes, the palate building on the scaffold of the bouquet. Here the accent is one excellent texture and length replaying the cherry fruit held in a savoury clasp. A wine that creeps up on you, the aftertaste a final hurrah
.Medium to full red colour with a good purple tinge. The bouquet is quite strong on stemmy bunchy characters, invoking root vegetables, pepper and dried herbs. The wine is slightly lean and firm in tannin, the structure suggesting it will go well with protein-rich food and also reward some cellaring. Has the perfume that is fast becoming the hallmark of all Shaw + Smith Pinots, and the sleight of hand that imbues these wines with the power, intensity and length that becomes more and more apparent each time you return to the glass. The flavours are of wild or not fully ripened strawberries, with all sorts of spice and hints of violets.
