Very firm reduction. The palate impression of the medium weight is once again highly energetic and beautifully well-detailed while displaying excellent focus and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. Like the Reignots, this won't wow you with imposing size or power but rather with its complexity and balance.

The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has quite an intense nose, a little smudged, with touches of menthol permeating the black cherry fruit. The palate is grippy on the entry, displaying smooth tannin and fine acidity, but curiously, perplexingly, I find it just missing the charm and sophistication of the domaine’s Premier Crus on the rather blocky finish. The jury is out on this one (for now.)
