'Bright ruby-red. Explosive wild, musky nose combines blackberry, violet, faded rose and dark chocolate; not herbal but still marked by the 100% whole-cluster vinification. Plush, sweet and sexy but with excellent energy from the combe influence as well as the use of stems. This is actually the highest in acidity of the '15s, with a pH of about 3.5, but the palate impression is very harmonious. Finishes with late-arriving smooth tannins and building, slightly meaty flavors of boysenberry and smoky oak. This wine is clearly more harmonious in bottle than it was when I tasted it from barrel in late 2016.
