The fruit is grown on the Scorpo family vineyard. The Chardonnay grapes (Bernard95, P58 and I10v1) were handpicked on 9th March 2017. 100% whole bunch ferment with natural yeast, with 20% in new oak and the remainder in 1- to 3-year-old barrels. No bâtonnage and no malolactic conversion. Sulphured on 1st December. Suitable for vegans
This is essentially the ‘Estate’ release, and is something of a flagbearer chardonnay in the range as a result. Juicy. Long. Pristine. Fennel-infused. Pear-riven. All those things. It’s a lively, lifted, stylish chardonnay with bright barley-accented fruit, wheaty tones and a bit of crunch to its acidity. It’s just beginning to spread it wings.
