Perfumed dried herb, almost like lavender, red fruits, earthiness. Medium bodied showing attractive balanced acid and light chewy grip with some stony/graphite like character and a clean finish. Not very long, admittedly, but satisfactory. Typical style, good vintage and a thoroughly enjoyable drink. Pretty much spot on at the price point.
The warm 2015 vintage in France produced very approachable wines with particularly generous, attractive, plush fruit flavours. This lovely young claret is no exception, especially now that it has spent a couple of years in the bottle. A blend of about two-thirds merlot and the rest cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, this gorgeous plummy red is balanced by savoury flavours of earth and coffee, and a dark sour-cherry lick of complexity. Superb value.
