The Gask is sourced from a single plot of Shiraz nestled into the eastern slope of Mount McKenzie in Eden Valley that is painstakingly nurtured by the Knight family.
Soft and elegant this wine possesses aromas of plum and eucalypt, whilst concentrated fruit gives the wine an inklike hue. The generous palate displays notes of freshly crushed blackberry and graphite, giving way to a tightly wound tannin profile. Aged in seasoned French oak barriques this is a wine to appreciate now but will also benefit from 5 to 10 years in the cellar.
Several winemakers over the years at Torbreck have managed to make the alcohol irrelevant. It's certainly the case here, the palate fresh and elegant, the winemaker's thumbprint all but invisible. Good now, better still later.
