Costanti's 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is very pretty. Sweet red cherry, raspberry and floral notes are nicely delineated throughout, while the freshness of the vintage adds notable brightness. Drink this light to medium-bodied Rosso over the next few years. The 2014 spent ten months in neutral 500-liter French oak barrels.
Andrea's Rosso di Montalcino isn't your typical Rosso. This is baby Brunello, as Andrea makes no distiction in the vineyard between grapes destines for Rosso and those for Brunello. This is simply aged for a shorter period, with twelve months in mostly old tonneaux and barrique. Very much in the Costanti style, classic and structured, displaying fresh red berry fruit, well integrated oak and firm tannins.
