San Giorgio is located in the Castelnuovo dell’Abate zone of Montalcino with 6 hectares of vineyards overlooking the Orcia river. Rosso ‘Ciampoleto’ is fresh and lively with bright cherry fruit and soft tannins, meanwhile, Brunello ‘Ugolforte’ , from the oldest vineyards is rich and full-bodied with dark berry fruit and spice.
Despite San Giorgio's new ownership, not much has been done to change the style and personality of this pretty Sangiovese. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolforte walks a straight line somewhere between elegance and substance. The wine is streamlined and pure with a pretty succession of wild berry aromas, spice, licorice and balsam herb. It offers a tight and elegant delivery.
