A Classic style from Wilson’s oldest vineyards in Polish Hill River, planted by John and Pat Wilson 40 years ago.Vines are small and spindly, cropping at minuscule yields due to the lack of available nutrient in the heavy clay soils.
100% handpicked fruit provides rich citrus flavours within a steely structure, tight with lots of minerality, as you expect from this area. Clare Valley Winemakers Wine of Provernance trophy (2014) is the latest accolade in a long line of awards given to this wine proving both it's pedigree and age worthiness for those who have the patience.
Aromas of straw and minerally, slaty, straw-like characters. The palate is tense and taut, reserved and nervy, with refinement and intensity, precision and length.
From 40yo vines planted by John and Pat Wilson in heavy clay soil that routinely produce a miniscule crop. It's fruity and moreish, the line of steely acidity giving shape and balance to a very good riesling that has an outstanding finish.
