Over the last decade, Roberto's profound revision of the winery's quality criteria - drastically reduced crops and even stricter selection of grapes that are vinified separately according to cru - have maximized the superb potential of his terroir and propelled Fuligni to be amongst the finest in the region. The wine is aged for three years in a combination of Slavonian oak barrels and tonneaux, followed by a year in the bottle, and is bursting at the seams with plum and cherry fruit sustained by a firm, full structure and polished tannins.
Wine lovers everywhere are in for a real treat with Montalcino’s latest releases. The 2015 Brunellos are some of the best in recent memory. Simply put, 2015 is a great Brunello vintage, easily one of the top eight or ten Brunello vintages of all time. I simply do not recall ever tasting as many outstanding young Brunellos as I did this year.

Good, deep red. Captivating nose combines ripe red cherry, leather, sweet spices, milk chocolate and earth tones. An outstanding wine that offers compelling sweetness in the mouth, but without quite the spine of acidity and delineation that usually gives Fuligni’s Brunellos their exceptionally refined character in practically every vintage. Milk chocolate, sweet spices and earth notes all repeat and linger on the creamy aftertaste.

The purity of fruit on the nose is perfection with cherries, crushed raspberries, mineral, pumice and citrus fruit. Dust, too. Full body. Powerful, chewy tannins. So long and muscular, yet polished and formed. Most structured Brunello I have ever had from here. A wine for decades. Try after 2022.
