From a single vineyard in the Coal River region (Clarence House). Whole bunch pressed direct to barrel where it was naturally fermented and matured with 20% new oak. It underwent 50% malolactic fermentation while ageing on lees for 210 months. Bottled unfined and filtered. The two clones balance each other well, I10V1 provides citrus and acid while the P58 provides riper fruits and richness. A rich mouthfeel with ripe acidity at the core.
From Coal River Valley (Clarence House Vineyard) via Jonathan and Matthew Hughes. Strong in the less characters. Scents of cashew, ripe apple and flint. Nice start. Very yeasty to taste but I’m liking it a lot. Supple texture, creamy nuttiness, halva, good fresh green apple characters, undercurrent of limey citrus. Has texture and weight but doesn?t feel overbearing, instead, presents complete and complex. Lovely stuff here.’
