1.33 ha planted in 1975 & 1980 on South/ southeastern exposure, sheltered valley and Quarts/granite soil. Vinified with 15 whole cluster, indigenous yeast fermentation in concrete tank, gentle extraction.
The 2017 Fleurie Clos Vernay was unaffected by hail according to Frédéric Lafarge. It has a deep, blueberry and raspberry coulis scented bouquet, and hints of crushed iris developing with aeration. The palate is grippy and firm on the entry, quite dense for a Fleurie with a masculine, structured finish that suggests this will repay cellaring. It is a Fleurie with ambition. Drink 2021-29
