62% merlot, 33% cabernet franc, 5% cabernet sauvignon
The 2019 Clément-Pichon has an intense blackberry and bilberry nose with subtle marine scents emerging with time, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, ever so slightly coarse tannins. Very classic in style, quite edgy, it just needs a little more flesh around the bones towards the briny finish.
The Médoc sibling of La Dominique in St Emilion is always a reliable Cru Bourgeois, here with a balanced wine that puts the emphasis on black fruits and dried leaf notes. Could do with fattening up a little through the mid palate, but I like the menthol finish here, and it will not need long in bottle to deliver its Médoc signature. 3.8pH. Drinking Window 2024 - 2035

The 2019 Clément-Pichon is a gracious, classy Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Sweet floral accents perk up a core of bright red-toned fruit as this mid-weight, elegant wine shows off its poise. The 2019 is not a big wine, but it is nicely balanced and quite satisfying.
