This small village cuvée is drawn from two parcels: 1.07 hectares on the red clay and yellow marls of Aux Fourneaux villages (planted in 1960), and 0.6 hectares on limestone in the west-facing, upper slope of Les Saucours, near the village itself (planted in 1976). The 2017 was vinified without stems, yielding a quite delicious young red that offers great value and begs to be drunk young.
Already bottled, the 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Village offers up expressive aromas of raspberries, orange rind and dried flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, supple wine with a succulent core of sappy fruit, framed by melting tannins. François de Nicolay opted for a shorter than usual élevage because the wine went through its malolactic fermentation early and clarified rapidly.
