South of Les Bressandes, and lying below Les Perrières at just over 2 hectares, Les Grèves is one of Corton's lessor known grands crus. Situated on the mid-slope, with a perfect south-easterly exposition, the soils are characterised by reddish clays peppered with flint stones and Jurassic limestone (known as Corton limestone). Domaine des Croix purchased a 0.55 hectare parcel of 1960 vines in 2009, and has farmed the vines organically since then. Tasted from barrel in mid-2017, this is a deep layered and incredibly powerful wine, all coiled up with lurking dark cherry, anise and ferrous notes and a strapping, spice ridden, structured close. This was the only cuvée in 2015 to be fully destemmed and was raised with roughly 30% new oak, rendered nigh on invisible by the wine's perfumed, textural richness.
"Sweet Spot. This is also markedly ripe yet the liqueur-like aromas of plum, earth and the sauvage remain quite fresh. As is usually the case this is bigger, richer and more powerful than the Vigne au Saint to the overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that conclude in a firm and velvety finish that is very Corton in style. Patience required."

"The 2015 Corton Grand Cru Greves is bridled with slightly darker fruit than the Corton La Vigne Au Saint, still very well defined but certainly less expressive at this early stage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, harmonious and beautifully focused with orange zest and tangy Seville orange marmalade towards the finish. This is another outstanding Corton from winemaker David Croix."
