169 yo vines, open-fermented, basket-pressed, 2 years in French oak.
Deep crimson with purple hues. An intense aroma of ripe Satsuma plum, mocha, vanilla and savoury notes combine with hints of cedar and sweet spices. Rich, sweet fruit is balanced wonderfully with briary and sweet spices and lovely, silky tannins. A full-bodied, textural wine, showing great complexity with hints of cedar and allspice flowing through to the lengthy, brambly fruit finish.
Deep red/purple colour, with very ripe sweet plum, prune-like aromas, well supplied with oak. Raisin and tar notes. The wine is chewy and tannic, quite oaky but not overdone, and a little gritty, but softens with repeated sips. It's a dense, fleshy, concentrated plum-essency style of shiraz.27 FEB 2020 Drink 2020–2035
