Vigna Martina is a 35year old Vineyard at 350 m altitude with sandy limestone soils. The wine is harvested in early October and fermented in stainless steel before matured in secondary barriques . Very aromatic and complex on the nose, the palate is full of intense red fruits, spice, and floral characters. Ripe and rich with good acidity to retain freshness the wine finishes with very fine silky tannins.
What you notice first on the Elio Grasso 2017 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Martina is a medley of crushed mineral, plum and some charred meat on the grill. The hot vintage works well with the Barbera grape, lowering the acidity and adding extra flavors of hazelnut, crushed flowers and dark fruit. Overall, this pretty wine is fresh and vibrant. Production is an ample 24,000 bottles.
