Lighter in colour and body than the '16, purely a reflection of a very different vintage. Mind you, the colour is very good, the bouquet and palate speaking volumes for the cool vintage with the length, complexity and intensity of the spicy red and black fruits. Spice, pepper and licorice are the usual flavours in cool grown shiraz, and they're here.

This is a beauty. A cool climate beauty. It’s all spice and nuts, black/red cherries and smoky oak, everything pulling as a team, everything drawing you in. Both black and white pepper notes get an airing, as does a run of ultra-fine tannin. Is there a touch of spritz here? It almost feels as though there is, though it in no way detracts. It’s a gorgeous wine.
