Made from the young vines at Lyons Will planted in 2013, we are seriously impressed with this wine - especially as it’s only the second vintage produced. Handpicked, destemmed and left on skins for 5-6 hours before being basket pressed to old oak barrels for fermentation. The wine is then aged on lees in barrel for 3 months, before being transferred to stainless steel for another month of lees contact. Notes of Bickford’s lime juice concentrate, delicate white/pale yellow florals with a hint of green pea and freshly cut grass loitering in the background. These pretty, lifted notes are balanced by a taut slate mineral vein of acid and perfectly offset by a hint of residual sugar. It has beautiful balance and finesse, with texture and weight derived from the combined barrel ferment and touch of rs. Only 130 cases produced.

It's tempting to talk of the wine's texture, because it's noteworthy, but the intensity of fruit flavour here is so thrilling that it sweeps all before it. Orange rind, lime and apple flavours career through the palate in totally convincing style. It doesn't put itself up there and politely ask for an assessment; it demands that it's quality be recognised.
