From vines planted in the 1970’s and 1980’s produced partially from the domaine’s grapes (Chenevery) and partially from purchased grapes (Chenevery, Crais Gillon, Chorvées Gillon). The soils are deeper and composed of clay. They create complete, well-structured wines, which are smooth on the palate with notes of violets and blackcurrants.
Here too there is background application of wood that easily allows the riper aromas of cassis, black raspberry liqueur and freshly turned earth scents to be appreciated. There is good energy if not necessarily density to the delicious barely middle weight flavors that also possess a sleek mid-palate texture yet the grippy finish is compact and slightly short. This is a bit more complex than the La Riotte and the length may improve as the supporting tannins begin to resolve.
