Celebrating the history of Pooley family and founders, we present the new 2019 vintage of Jack Denis Pooley Pinot Noir, a wine that truly reflects the legacy of its namesake. The fruit of this flagship wine was traditionally sourced from a selection of our best parcels from the original low-yielding vines of our Cooinda Vale vineyard, founded by Jack Denis and Margaret Pooley in 1985. From 2017, a decision was made by our family to include the best of our later plantings, including 114, 115, and Pommard clones to provide the wine with further vibrancy, poise, and intensity.
The 2019 Jack Denis Pooley Pinot Noir included 33% whole bunch and was fermented using wild yeast for 24 days. The wine was pressed, then aged in 33% new French oak barriques over 10 months. What resulted is a wine of finesse, with a deep crimson colour and a purple rim. At such a youthful age, the wine is instantly personable with notes of lifted bright red fruits, ferrous and game. A full spectrum of flavours with rhubarb, plum, cherry liqueur and blistered red fruits following on the palate. Layered and silky.
