Aromatico is a blend of Adelaide Hills Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The name is taken from one of the many synonyms for the Gewürztraminer grape believed to originate in the Alto Adige area of Northern Italy near the town of Tramin, where it is known as Traminer Aromatico.
2019 was a winemaker’s vintage with every scrap of experience tested and measured. Lower than average winter rainfall set up for a dry growing season resulting in dramatically reduced yields. The Adelaide Hills was most affected with some varieties down by 50%. In low yield years acidity is generally good, setting up the resulting wines for stability and long lives.
70% Gewürztraminer, 23% Riesling, 7% Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards in Woodside, Lenswood and Macclesfield. Hand harvested, blended as juice, and co-fermented to enhance the marriage of the three varieties.
The nose and palate feature lychee, rosewater, tropical fruit and flowers, cinnamon and nutmeg spice. It's light- to medium-bodied, juicy with immediate attack and energy. The varieties are perfectly integrated and the small amount of residual sugar balances and sustains the finish.
