Belpoggio's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a very beautiful appearance with dark ruby and garnet highlights. The bouquet takes a few minutes to open. Once it does, it shows ripe aromas with cherry and raspberry confit on prime display. Those soft and succulent tones give the wine an accessible and immediate personality. There's less complexity here, but the wine offers a pretty and soothing near-term drinking window. The wine is lean in terms of mouthfeel. Belpoggio is located in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate subzone with vineyards at 400 meters above sea level.
