Deep, bold, youthfully bright red/purple colour and a stylish cassis, blueberry, violet and mulberry bouquet that depicts properly ripe fruit and sensitively played oak. The palate is full-bodied and boldly powerful, concentrated and very long, the tannins flooding the entire palate but supple and fine-textured. Deliciously fruit-sweet and floral in the core, finishing with appropriately firm, authoritative tannins that last throughout the very long flavour. Exceptional young cabernet. Big future predicted. 29 MAR 2020 Drink 2020–2042

While some of the '17 Stella Bella reds have been disappointing, thankfully the flagship isn't one of them. A concentrated, rich style with cassis, currants and violets with spicy, toasty oak inputs. Perky acidity alongside the firm tannins acts as a buffer and freshen the palate. It's a keeper. Come back to this in a few years.
