Light to mid-yellow colour, with a trace of peach and honey in the bouquet, suggesting ripe, rich grapes. The palate tracks the bouquet, with generous fruit and softness yet properly dry and very appetising. This has generosity of flavour as well as refinement, richness and length and engaging flavour. A wine of character. This is more towards the richer, Smaragd-like style than the other grüners from this maker. Excellent. (157 dozen produced. Partial malolactic fermentation and barrel ageing.) 02 JAN 2021 Drink 2021–2028
One of 3 Grüners in the CRFT collection, somewhat tropical in its aromatics, though with telling varietal white pepper notes. Plenty of mixed spice in there as well, seasoning the ripe fruit flavours within - suggestions of mango and peach, with lovely sticky tannins in the finish. Most distinctive.

The Wine
A style shift for 2020, this release bringing a richer and more complex style. Mango, peach and apricot, with ripe white pear and black pepper. Hugely textural and concentrated, gorgeous star anise spice lift on the palate with a mangosteen and apricot finish.
Drinking beautifully at release and will continue to develop with bottle age.
