There's gold in them thar hills. A little struck match, lime and white nectarine, almond, white flowers and spicy biscuits. It's cool and precise, with just the right amount of flavour to match its fine structure. Feels good, and lightly chalky, bright and very long. Superb modern Hills Chardonnay here.

A very enticing nose of white peaches, lemon juice and grapefruit peel with crushed stones, wet chalk and flint, as well as attractively integrated, hazelnutty oak. The palate has a very succulent, fresh and fleshy feel with a beautiful core of concentrated lemons and peaches. So intense and so balanced, the succulent, lemon and grapefruit finish is impressively pure and powerful. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

More tightly woven, restrained and nascent than the estate chardonnay, although jittering with an energy that only patience, time, or an aggressive decant will unspool. Confident, unfettered and finely tuned. Nothing astride or unnecessary. Curd, apricot pith, grapefruit pulp and nectarine lurk beneath a veneer of classy oak. The intensity written. The finish long.
