The majority of our Late Harvest pick was golden and well matured fruit. Some noble botrytis-affected bunches were also harvested which have added to the complexity of this wine. The resulting wine is a brilliant straw colour with hints of iridescent green. The focal aromatic point is citrus blossom with infusions of mint and waxy honey also contributing. On the palate ripe nectarine, feijoa flesh and grapefruit are neatly encapsulated. This intense fruit character and a high amount of residual sugar (65 grams per litre) are balanced by a lime sorbet-like acidity. This tension of fruit power, high sugar and acidity make Kabinett style Riesling justifiably famous. Wines of this structure and concentration can age for many decades; we suggest a window of between five and seven years as an appropriate time to start enjoying this particular wine.
