A deep ruby, with edges ever so gently showing some age. The aromas are a complex bunch: violet, sarsaparilla, boysenberry, mocha, and a medicinal whiff to sweaty saddle, attractively rustic yet not detracting from the wine's brood. Very rich, yet there is a pulse and good flow from fore to a long aft, despite spending a whopping 27 months in French wood. Perhaps a little long.
