Massimiliano Calabretta is part natural winemaker/philosopher who, in his day job, is a Professor of Electrical Power Engineering, specialising in Nuclear Fusion. The vineyards are mostly 80+ years old, many planted piede franco (ungrafted rootstock) and no chemicals or pesticides have ever been used.
From the youngest vineyards in Calderara, planted in 2004/05 from a massale selection. Fresh and lively, with almost a rawness to the fruit. On the palate, the acidity is crunchy with Etan's classic minerally backbone. This is both a great value wine and a great introduction to the house style.
