The 2018 Tappa Pass Shiraz blends fruit from Eden Valley and Barossa Valley, then ages it in 20% new French oak hogsheads, with the balance aged in used oak. Vanilla notes and dried spices add extra complexity to the dark berry fruit on the nose, while this creamy, full-bodied wine expands on the palate, delivering waves of lush blueberry and blackberry fruit balanced by savory overtones of tapenade and grilled beef. Those elements all come to a harmonious crescendo on the long, velvety finish. This is the sort of Barossa wine that's thrilling to drink in its exuberant youth but will still be going strong a decade or more hence

Medium deep crimson. Lifted dark cherry, dark plum, blackberry aromas with praline/ dark chocolate notes. Generous and seductive dark plum, blackberry boysenberry fruits, fine looseknit chocolaty textures, integrated vanilla, spicy oak notes, attractive mid-palate viscosity and long fresh integrated acidity. Finishes chocolaty firm with plentiful dark fruits and savoury notes. A classic Barossa Shiraz with superb density, richness and vigour. Still elemental needing a few years to achieve completeness

Vivid magenta rim; dark, deep centre. Medium-bodied fruit, oak, tannins fused, impossible to unwrap; meaty nuances to a range of black fruits. Powerful, seductive; easy to drink, its structure and texture demand attention.

Intense and deep ruby core with a deep purple rim. Dark berries, violets and wakame aromatics. The palate is loaded with just-crushed mulberries, dried herbs and ironstone. Very complex from start to a very long finish. Definitely a full-bodied wine, but the fine tannins and fine acidity provides a beguiling lightness throughout. 14 MAR 2021 Drink 2021–2036
