2019 Heirloom Vineyards Private Selection Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills

With a pale yellow colour that suggests White Burgundy more than Chablis, this Chardonnay is perhaps an amalgam of both of those wonderful wine styles. With the grapefruit zest, the stone fruits, and the aromas of a Springtime's Kitchen Garden coming to the fore. Perfumed elegantly with a dab of French oak, this bouquet helps focus the fruit's acidity and its tension.

Indeed, it is an example of aroma and bouquet working hand-in-hand. When first tasted there's some texture to begin with, then the palate becomes clean and soft before the stone and citrus fruit power takes over from the grace.
