The "Ürziger" site is affected by red iron-rich volcanic soil, which is mixed with fine weathered slate. This changes the character of the wines grown here to aromas which remind on spices and rich fully ripened fruit. The acidity is crisp with a good hearty backbone and produces a very fine tightly wound Kabinett wine. Southeast facing very steep slope, unique red slate, and very stony soils.
2019 produces a rich powerful spicy wine with enormous intensity and length at this level. Ripe citrus and dried herb on the nose, beautifully balanced and long with a spice-note finish.
