Larry Cherubino Wines was only established in 2005, but the significant success we’ve achieved is the culmination of more than 20 years’ observation and work, both in Australia and across the major wine-producing regions of the world.
Simplicity in winemaking requires great attention to detail in the vineyard, an uncompromising approach fruit selection and uncomplicated winemaking, all framed by a kind season. The sum of these things lies within each bottle of wine we make.
Larry is renowned for his passionate commitment to maximising wine quality in both vineyard and winery, his state of the art technical knowledge and for having a highly developed understanding of modern wine styles. A graduate of Roseworthy College, Larry has had a distinguished career with BRL Hardy at Tintara in South Australia and then at Houghton in Western Australia, where his wines won hundreds of awards in the highly competitive Australian and International wine show system.
Porongurup, hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, tank fermented, 2g/L residual. Porongurup can express a very particular character in its rieslings; they are talcy and chalky (both in texture and flavour), with a distinct floral nose (jasmine and stephanotis are the most oft observed) and the acidity is intricately woven in and out of the fruit. This has all of those characteristics, which steer it in a most regal and beautiful direction. Very, very long length of flavour.
