2018 Cullen Vanya Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River

100% cabernet sauvignon picked on a flower day from Block 2. On skins in amphora for 56 days. Matured in 100% new Taransaud puncheons for 5 months. Unusual for a premium cabernet to spend so little time in oak, but once the wine is in the mouth, the Tardis of fruit on the core of the palate reveals a pedigree that defies comprehension and hyperbole. Supple, layered and ridiculously long, this is as close to a spiritual experience as wine can take us. Utterly thought-provoking, speech-stopping cabernet. Elegant in a way that has never previously been explored in Australian cabernet. And that oak? Imperceptible.
