This is totally seductive and delicious; it’s wonderfully matured with dark berry, charcuterie, cedar, dried herb and leather notes on the nose. The multi-layered palate delivers outstanding concentration and persistency backed by seamlessly pitched tannins, offering structure as well as lavish texture.”

Supremely elegant pinot noir that is still showing some cherry and raspberry primary fruit flavours, although it is altogether more vinous than when I last tasted it nearly a decade ago with spice, toffee, wood-smoke and nutty oak characters.

Fantastic to be able to taste and evaluate a wine with bottle age. Equally exciting that the team at Pegasus Bay have kept some library stock. Aromas of integration and complexity with a mix of primary and secondary berry fruit scents, soft brown spices of oak, earthy tones of clay and dried stones, some old rose and mineral. On the palate - tense, fine, complex and dry. Tannins from fruit and wood have integrated, but still add some palate tension and texture; acidity adds contrast to the fruit flavours that reflect the nose. The final part of this wine is the pinosity and personality that comes from a wine made with care and attention to detail - it tells a story of time and place. Delicious and interesting, integrated and humbling. Balanced, well made and ready to enjoy.
