The colour is a very bright, youthful deep purple and the aromas are brilliantly fresh and vital, dark cherry to dark plum and blackberry laced with spices and a ferrous-ironstone overtone. It's medium to full-bodied, rich and intense, with lovely fleshy texture and supple, fine tannins that are in harmony with the flavour, alcohol and acidity. A polished wine, already drinking remarkably well.31 MAY 2021 Drink 2021–2031
92 points Huon Hooke therealreview.comCrimson with violet hues. Lifted aromatics of red berries, black cherry and plum are supported by violets, anise, sage and cracked pepper. The vibrant palate exudes rich plum and red currant flavours, with hints of pepper and anise. Decadent layers of flavor and texture are supported by svelte tannins and excellent length.
67% shiraz, 17% grenache, 10% mataro and 6% viognier from the Eden and Barossa Valleys. The shiraz and viognier were co-fermented, the other varieties fermented separately, matured in French hogsheads (10% new). Shiraz/viognier dominates the blend, but does so without bluster - indeed this is a wine with javelin of linearity that is from fruit and acid, not tannins or oak. This could be a sleeper, stealing the show in 10+ years.
